Adjusting the capping head comes down to coordinating four things: height, pressure, angle, and concentricity. Cut power before adjusting. Prepare caps and bottles that match the machine. Use a cap with unworn threads as the reference, and have hex wrenches and a vernier caliper on hand.

1. Height adjustment

Loosen the M8 fixing bolt on the capping head bracket. Keep the gap between the head bottom and the cap top at 1.5 ±0.2 mm.

Use the three-bottle test: place three bottles in a row. When the head descends, it should contact all three cap tops at the same time.

2. Torque control

The pressure knob is on the side of the capping head drive shaft. Set the initial value to 50% of rated torque.

For carbonated beverage bottles, 2.5 to 3.5 N·m is recommended. For pharmaceutical aluminum caps, 8 to 12 N·m. Verify with a torque tester. After tightening, the cap threads should show 2 to 3 full pitches.

3. Angle fine-tuning

For irregular caps, adjust the universal joint mechanism at the capping head clamp first. Measure with an angle gauge. The angle deviation between the capping head working face and the cap plane should be ≤0.5°.

For caps with tamper-evident rings, add 3 to 5 degrees of forward tilt to prevent excessive indentation.

4. Concentric positioning

Place a calibration mandrel in the locating fixture. Adjust the four-way fine-tuning bolts on the capping head mounting seat. Pass criteria: when the capping head rotates, mandrel radial runout must not exceed 0.05 mm.

Check concentricity monthly with a dial indicator to avoid positioning drift from mechanical wear.

5. Verification

Run a stepped acceleration test: first run 20 cycles at 50% of design speed, then increase gradually to full load.

Use destructive testing for sampling. Qualified products should meet: cap torque decay <15%, and sealing surface compression deformation between 8% and 12%.

For capping head grippers, universal joints, and mounting seats, we can machine to customer drawings, for single pieces or small batches.

Beyond capping machine parts, our precision component machining capability also covers non-standard parts for filling machinery, pharmaceutical packaging equipment, and daily chemical packaging lines, as well as precision structural parts for yachts and RC race cars. Hansheng Automation machines single pieces or small batches to customer drawings, with material, tolerance, and surface finish specified by the drawing.
