Frequent material entrapment in vertical granular packing machines can lead to poorly sealed bag openings and defective products. The main causes and corresponding solutions are as follows.

Causes

Packaging bag specification issues: The set bag length is too short while the filled material volume is too large, causing material to be caught at the sealing area during sealing.

Mismatch between material filling and sealing:

The filling speed is fast while the sealing speed is slow, so the material does not fully enter the bag before sealing and gets trapped.

The sealing speed is fast while the filling speed is slow, causing the seal to close prematurely and catch material.

Discharge device problems: The discharge device is not tight enough. During sealing, material falls onto the sealing area and becomes trapped.

Static electricity on packaging film: The packaging film generates static electricity that attracts material, causing particles to be caught at the sealing point.

Gas flushing pressure issues: If a nitrogen flushing device is used, excessive gas pressure can stir up material and cause it to be caught in the transverse seal.

Solutions

Adjust packaging specifications or material volume: Modify the bag size or reduce the filling volume as needed to ensure material enters the bag smoothly and is not trapped.

Adjust filling and sealing timing:

Adjust the discharge timing of the volumetric cup metering device or electronic weigher to coordinate with the transverse sealing time, ensuring that filling and sealing actions are synchronized.

Alternatively, directly adjust the transverse sealing time to match the material filling.

Inspect and replace the discharge device: Check the sealing tightness of the discharge device. If any looseness or gaps are found, replace the relevant parts promptly to prevent material from falling during sealing.

Eliminate static electricity: Take measures to remove static electricity from the packaging film, such as installing an ionizing air device, to reduce the chance of material being attracted to the sealing area.

Adjust gas flushing pressure: Properly adjust the gas flushing pressure to avoid excessive pressure that stirs up material and causes entrapment in the transverse seal.

For key components such as discharge devices, metering mechanisms, and transverse sealing units, Hansheng Automation can provide custom precision machining according to equipment specifications, helping improve the coordination between filling and sealing and reducing material entrapment.
