The following procedure provides a general reference for operating a capsule filling machine. The actual operating sequence may vary depending on the machine configuration and capsule specifications.
1. Turn On the Power and Adjust the Vibration
Before starting, confirm that the electrical connection is safe and secure. Press the green Power Switch to start the machine.
After the power is connected, slowly turn the Vibration Adjustment Knob clockwise and set the vibration intensity to an appropriate level. The sorting tray and vibration support should operate smoothly and synchronously.
2. Prepare the Capsule Bodies and Caps
Place approximately 300 filled-capsule bodies into the capsule-body sorting tray. Place a similar quantity of capsule caps into the capsule-cap sorting tray.
Use clean and undamaged capsules that match the required capsule size and production specifications.
3. Sort the Capsule Bodies and Caps
After approximately 30 seconds of vibration, the capsule bodies and caps should automatically enter the circular holes in their respective sorting trays.
If any capsule body or cap enters the tray with its opening facing downward, gently press it into the appropriate position and remove it from the sorting tray as required.
4. Collect the Capsule Bodies and Caps
Hold the capsule-body collection plate and gently insert it into the lower section of the sorting tray. The capsule bodies will fall into the corresponding holes in the collection plate.
Remove the collection plate carefully after all capsule bodies have been transferred.
Repeat the same procedure with the capsule-cap collection plate.
5. Fill the Capsule Bodies with Powder
Prepare a powder tray measuring approximately 500 × 500 mm, with a side height of approximately 10 mm, and add the required pharmaceutical powder.
Place the capsule-body collection plate flat on the powder tray and install the transparent frame around the working area.
Use a small scoop to distribute the powder evenly inside the frame. Level the powder with a suitable scraper and remove excess material from the surface.
The powder should be distributed evenly to help maintain consistent filling quantities.
6. Install the Capsule Caps
Use the capsule-cap mounting plate to position the capsule caps onto the cap collection plate.
Turn the collection plate over so that the capsule openings face downward, then align it with the capsule-body collection plate containing the filled capsule bodies.
Lower the two sections together so that the capsule caps and bodies are properly aligned.
7. Lock and Remove the Finished Capsules
Place the assembled capsule plate into the corresponding cavity of the capsule closing and forming plate.
Gently move the pressing handle to the appropriate position. The positioning mechanism controls the movement, so excessive force should not be applied.
After the capsule bodies and caps are fully locked, remove the finished capsules from the forming plate.
The capsule filling process is then complete.
Important Operating Precautions
Make sure all machine components and collection plates are correctly installed before operation. Follow the specified operating sequence and avoid excessive force when handling the capsule components.
The vibration intensity, powder distribution, and capsule alignment should be checked throughout the process. Improper adjustment or uneven powder distribution may result in inconsistent filling weights, damaged capsules, or incomplete capsule closure.
After operation, clean the working surfaces and material-contact components thoroughly to prevent residual powder from affecting subsequent production batches.
For pharmaceutical equipment manufacturers, stable capsule filling also depends on the precision and reliability of the machine's mechanical components. Hansheng Automation can manufacture custom precision components for capsule filling equipment according to customer drawings or 3D models, including shafts, bushings, guide components, supports, cams, and other non-standard parts. We support prototype and small-batch production with machining processes selected according to the required material, tolerances, surface finish, and application requirements.
