In precision grinding in pharmaceutical cleanrooms, multi-station grinders suit high-volume production with high cleanliness requirements. Semi-automatic solutions suit flexible production with small batches and many product types. The choice depends on production scale and cleanroom class.

1. Cleanroom compatibility

Multi-station grinder

Fully enclosed guarding. Grinding stations sit inside a closed chamber. Dust control efficiency ≥99.5%. It can directly fit GMP Grade A/B cleanrooms.
Automated operation keeps personnel away from the grinding process. Cross-contamination risk ≤0.1%.

Semi-automatic solution

Open operation takes a high share. A local Class 100 clean booth is needed to fit GMP Grade A/B, or it can directly fit GMP Grade C/D workshops.
Manual intervention in grinding and workpiece transfer gives cross-contamination risk ≤1.2%. Cleanroom qualification management for personnel must be strengthened.

2. Production efficiency and cost

Multi-station grinder

Single-station cycle time 10 to 15 s. Multiple stations work in parallel. Batch capacity is 3 to 5 times that of a semi-automatic solution.
Equipment purchase cost is about 2 to 3 times that of a semi-automatic solution. But labor and energy cost per unit drop by more than 60%. It suits mass production with annual capacity ≥50,000 pieces.

Semi-automatic solution

Single-station cycle time 30 to 60 s. Manual transfer and loading/unloading account for about 40%. Batch capacity is low.
Equipment purchase cost is low. It suits small-batch, multi-type production with annual capacity ≤10,000 pieces. Labor cost accounts for more than 50%.

3. Product quality consistency

Multi-station grinder

The CNC system controls grinding head feed. Dimensional deviation ≤±0.002 mm. Consistency pass rate ≥99.8%.
Chips are automatically collected and handled, with no residue. This meets cleanroom requirements for medical devices.

Semi-automatic solution

Manual feed control gives dimensional deviation ≤±0.01 mm. Consistency pass rate ≤98.5%.
Manual chip cleaning leaves residue easily. Extra cleanroom validation steps are needed, and the validation cycle is 2 to 3 times longer.

Our precision parts machining service is not limited to grinding equipment for pharmaceutical cleanrooms. Hansheng Automation can machine custom parts from drawings for medical device parts, filling machinery parts, tobacco packaging machinery parts, and food packaging equipment parts. We also cover yacht precision fittings, RC car structural parts, and printing machinery parts. Single pieces and small batches are both available, with attention to material, tolerance, surface finish, and assembly fit.
