With the online configurator of the rotary module, you do not incur any configuration costs and save up to 3 weeks of configuration time
With the online configurator for rotary modules from motion plastics specialist igus, engineers can quickly configure and order individual rotating energy supply systems in a matter of seconds. This will save weeks of email and phone coordination time, which will reduce design time. Users of the configurator also benefit from preferential prices for rotating energy supply systems, as igus passes the savings directly to the customer.
The planning office is under pressure: The new industrial robots that weld body parts in car factories face a problem – a lack of a suitable rotary energy supply system. The role of this important component is to provide power and data to the robotic arm's welding tools during rotational motion. However, standard systems are not suitable for limited installation space, and customized solutions take too long. "Personalized design often requires more coordination work, which can take up to three weeks in the form of phone calls, emails and on-site visits." Michael Berteit, Sales Manager for Engineering Projects and Installation Services at igus, said. In order to save customers time, igus has developed a new online configurator for rotary modules. With this tool, engineers can quickly and easily configure and order customized rotating energy supply systems, while also saving costs. "We pass on the design work saved by igus to our customers in the form of a better product price." Berteit said.
"We want to help our customers save as much time and money as possible"
The igus online configurator is designed in such a way that the user can operate it intuitively. All you need to do is specify the desired outer diameter of the system and select the series and width of the e-chain®, e.g. you can choose the E4.21 model from the E4.1 series, which is known for its versatility, robustness and reliability. With the preview function, the configurator visualizes the dimensions of the rotating energy supply system in millimeters, including the minimum inner diameter, the overall length of the e-chain® (including the mounting bracket), the maximum rotation angle and the height of the system. If all parameters meet the customer's requirements, they can check the price and delivery time of this individual solution directly in the online configurator and request a quote with one click. In addition, users can download a PDF file with all application parameters and obtain a CAD model in STEP format. Berteit explains, "From configuration to query and integration, we want to help our customers save as much time and money as possible. We are currently working on the development of a dedicated online store that will allow users to order a customised system at a later date. "
Wide range of applications: from wind turbines to medical devices
Rotating energy supply systems from igus can be used not only in automation technology, but also in wind turbines to ensure that power and data are safely transmitted to the control system of the rotating nacelle or rotor blades. In addition, they can be used in medical devices, especially imaging equipment such as computed tomography, machine tools, cranes, and bucket wheel excavators. A rotating energy supply module consists of two circular guide trough segments. One guide trough segment is connected to the fixed part of the system and the other to the rotating part of the system. The user is free to choose the fixed end of the e-chain®, as the rotary module can be rotated both inside and outside. These systems are capable of achieving a rotation angle of 540° on a single layer and rotational speeds of up to 360°/s. This has been proven in advance in advance in the 4,000 m² test laboratory in Cologne through extensive testing and has proven its reliability in a wide range of energy chain applications, some of which have been in use for more than 20 years. igus enables customers to design individual rotary modules extremely quickly and to guarantee their safety.

With the new online tool, users can easily configure individual rotating energy supply systems for a wide range of applications – from camera technology and X-ray machines to wind turbines.
