According to foreign media reports, Porsche will stop producing its Cayman and Boxster models at its parent company Volkswagen Group's factory in Osnabrueck, Germany, which will put the future of the factory at risk.

Starting from Easter 2026, Porsche will transfer the production of these two models to its main factory located in Zuffenhausen, southern Germany.

The head of Volkswagen stated in September this year that the company could no longer rule out the possibility of closing its German factory in the face of slowing demand, and the latest news from Porsche has added uncertainty to the Osnabr ü ck factory.

The Osnabr ü ck factory has 2300 employees and produced over 28000 cars last year, with a potential annual production capacity of up to 100000 vehicles.

In addition to the Porsche Cayman and Boxster, the Osnabr ü ck factory is also responsible for producing the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabrio, which will be discontinued next year.

Porsche confirmed this news to foreign media and stated that the weak demand in the Chinese market was the reason for the company's decision to shift production. A spokesperson for Volkswagen Group also confirmed Porsche's decision and stated that Porsche made this decision because the company is currently facing "difficulties" in the Chinese market.

Amid slowing sales and high costs of electrification transformation, Volkswagen is facing enormous pressure to cut costs, and the company has issued its second profit warning in three months.

Volkswagen acquired the Osnabr ü ck factory in 2009. The factory opened in 1935 and has produced Volkswagen Karmann Ghia sports cars.
