In December 2024, Omron Automation (China) Co., Ltd. officially released its new product [EtherNet/IP Unit CJ1W-EIP21S]. This product is a performance upgrade based on CJ1W-EIP21, adding multiple security functions, strengthening network security, improving equipment reliability, and making industrial production more secure.
EtherNet/IP is an open industrial network protocol that is vulnerable to malicious attacks and has certain security risks. To address such risks, CJ1W-EIP21S uses 4 security functions (secure communication function, user authentication function, port opening/closing function, IP packet filtering function) to improve the security of program and data access networks in existing devices and avoid network security risks.
Upgrade 1: Strengthen the security of existing equipment
CJ1W-EIP21S can achieve secure network connection through multiple security functions. You only need to replace or add existing EtherNet/IP units to enhance the security of existing equipment.
Upgrade 2: More supported CPU units
CJ1W-EIP21S now supports NJ series CPU units, covering more products and enhancing device reliability.
*1. To connect to NJ series CPU units, you need to use an EtherNet/IP unit with unit version Ver.1.0 or later and lot number 241001 or later.
Please use a CPU unit with version Ver.1.67 or later and Sysmac Studio with version Ver.1.60 or later.
In addition, CJ1W-EIP21S has the following features:
● "Tag data link function" for sharing node data between devices and "information service function" for sending and receiving data.
● Equipped with FINS/UDP, FINS/TCP, and socket service functions compatible with Ethernet units.
● Tag data link capacity exceeds 180,000CH, which improves data exchange efficiency.
● Tag data link can easily obtain large-capacity tag data links with simple settings.
● Each connection can contain up to 722CH, ensuring data concurrency within each connection.
