At the 7th "Maritime Silk Road" International Cooperation Forum, Lumos, a leading Chinese embodied intelligent robot company, and Xiamen Port Development Co., Ltd. (000905.SZ) officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement, announcing in-depth collaboration in areas such as smart port development, robotic inspections, and scientific research innovation. This agreement marks a key step in the commercialization of embodied intelligent technology in port settings.

Deep integration of industry, academia, and research addresses the pain points of intelligent port development.

As an innovative company founded only a year ago, Lumos' core team hails from universities such as Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University and has experience in mass-producing consumer-grade humanoid robots. The company has previously collaborated with companies such as Damon Technology and COSCO Shipping on logistics applications. Xiamen Port Development, a leading port operator on the southeast coast, handles over 15 million TEUs annually. Its yards, terminals, and other locations place extremely high demands on equipment reliability and environmental adaptability. This collaboration addresses the shortcomings of human-robot collaboration, using embodied intelligent robots to address the low efficiency of traditional inspections and insufficient manpower in high-risk scenarios. For example, quadruped robots can adapt to complex terrain such as ramps and steps at docks, while humanoid robots can simulate human operations, completing delicate tasks like opening and closing valves and reading instrument readings.

"From the laboratory to the port, embodied intelligence requires contextual refinement."

"Ports are core hubs in the global supply chain, and their all-weather, multimodal operating environments are the perfect testing ground for the environmental perception and decision-making capabilities of embodied intelligent robots," said the CEO of Luming Robot at the signing ceremony. It was revealed that the two parties will jointly establish a laboratory to focus on optimizing robot reliability under extreme operating conditions such as salt spray corrosion and strong electromagnetic interference, and explore the integrated application of 5G and edge computing in port scenarios. A representative from Xiamen Port Development emphasized that the collaboration is not limited to technical implementation but will also promote the intelligent upgrade of the "Silk Road Maritime" standard system, providing a "Chinese solution" for the development of global smart ports.

This collaboration marks another strategic move by Luming Robot into a vertical sector, following its collaboration with COSCO SHIPPING and Mitsubishi Electric. As embodied intelligent technology extends from logistics and factories to ports, domestic robots are accelerating the reshaping of the "human-machine collaboration" model in traditional industries, providing a new paradigm for cost reduction, efficiency improvement and safety upgrades in the industry.
