IT Home reported on October 30 that Google is developing a series of artificial intelligence products, and it also uses artificial intelligence a lot in the process of building these products. "More than a quarter of Google's new code is generated by artificial intelligence, which is then reviewed and accepted by engineers," CEO Sundar Pichai said on the company's third-quarter 2024 earnings call.

AI has not only helped Google improve productivity, but has also directly led to revenue growth. Google's parent company, Alphabet, posted revenue of $88.3 billion in the quarter, including $76.5 billion from Google services (including search), up 13% year-over-year, and Google Cloud (including AI infrastructure products for other companies) at $11.4 billion, up 35% year-over-year.
IT Home noted that Google has launched a number of innovative products based on AI technology, such as Gemini-powered custom AI chatbot "Gems", GoogleMeet's automatic AI note-taking function, and a series of generative AI tools to help YouTube creators, and the Pixel9 series of smartphones are also equipped with rich AI features.
Pichai said new AI capabilities are expanding how people search and what they want. In the cloud computing space, AI solutions help attract new customers and win deals on a larger scale. YouTube's advertising and subscription revenue surpassed $50 billion for the first time in the past four quarters.
However, Google is facing an antitrust challenge. The U.S. Department of Justice previously determined that Google has a monopoly in the search and advertising market and is currently entering the remediation phase. While the final outcome remains to be seen, Google is at risk of being split up.
