What do we offer?
Steel Surface Treatments

Are your precision-machined parts encountering bottlenecks in the final surface treatment stage? The delays, communication errors, and inconsistent quality resulting from using independent surface treatment providers can introduce significant uncertainties into the final assembly process.

Hansheng Automation offers a complete steel surface treatment service seamlessly integrated with CNC machining. From design drawings to ready-to-assemble finished products, we control the entire process to ensure precise performance and save you at least 30% of your supply chain management time.

Surface Preparation & Pre-treatment

Before any coating or plating is applied, the steel surface must be impeccably prepared to ensure adhesion and performance.

Sandblasting & Shot Blasting
Using high-velocity abrasive materials to clean the steel surface.Removes scale, rust, and minor burrs while creating a specific surface roughness (anchor profile) to enhance coating adhesion.Ideal for preparing weldments or heavy steel parts before powder coating or painting.

Polishing & Buffing
Reduces surface roughness (Ra) to achieve a mirror-like or satin finish, essential for precision moving parts to reduce friction.

Corrosion Protection & Plating Services

Extend the lifespan of your parts in challenging environments.

We offer industry-standard Plating Services to protect carbon steel from oxidation and environmental degradation.

Zinc Electroplating (Zinc Plating):

Description: A cost-effective electrolytic process that deposits a thin layer of zinc. Available with various conversion coatings (Clear/Blue, Yellow, Black Chromate).

Key Benefits: Excellent corrosion resistance for indoor environments; aesthetically pleasing.

Typical Application: Fasteners, brackets, and small Mechanical Parts for SPM machine.

Hot-Dip Galvanizing (HDG):

Description: Immersing steel into molten zinc to form a metallurgical bond.

Key Benefits: Superior, long-term corrosion protection for outdoor exposure (20+ years).

Typical Application: Heavy structural steel, outdoor equipment frames.

Electroless Nickel Plating:

Description: A chemical auto-catalytic process that deposits a uniform nickel-phosphorus alloy without electricity.

Key Benefits: Uniform thickness even on complex geometries (threads, internal holes); high hardness and corrosion resistance.

Typical Application: Precision valves, drive shafts, and complex CNC Machining Post-Processing components.

Chemical conversion coating

For precision parts with strict tolerance requirements, conversion coatings can provide protection without significant changes in size.

Black oxidation (blackening/bluing)
A chemical conversion process that can form magnetite (Fe3O4) coatings.

Advantages: No change in size (very suitable for high-precision parts); Reduce light reflection; Provide mild corrosion resistance (after oil coating).

Scope of application: Precision gears, machine tools, firearm components.

Phosphating treatment (manganese phosphate/zinc phosphate)
Form a porous crystal layer on the surface.

Advantages: Excellent lubricant retention (reducing wear during break in), and can be used as a high-quality paint primer.

Scope of application: Automotive gears, bearings, and base coatings.

Surface hardening and wear resistance
For parts that can withstand heavy loads or friction, we provide treatment solutions that can improve surface hardness while maintaining core toughness.

Surface hardening and wear resistance

For parts that can withstand heavy loads or friction, we provide treatment solutions that can improve surface hardness while maintaining core toughness.

Hard chrome plating
A thick chrome plating layer designed specifically for industrial wear resistance (different from decorative chrome plating).

Main advantages: extremely high hardness (65-70 HRC), low friction coefficient, and excellent wear resistance.

Typical applications: hydraulic cylinder piston rods, rollers, and molds.

Carburizing and nitriding
Thermochemical treatment process of diffusing carbon or nitrogen onto the surface of steel.

Main advantages: significantly improve surface hardness and fatigue strength.

Organic Coatings & Aesthetics

Durable finishes for branding and protection.

Powder Coating
Process: Dry powder is applied electrostatically and cured under heat to form a hard skin.

Key Benefits: More durable than liquid paint; environmentally friendly (low VOCs); available in a vast range of RAL colors and textures.

Typical Application: Machine enclosures, panels, and frames.

Liquid Painting
Process: Wet paint application for specific color matching or parts that cannot withstand high curing temperatures.

Quality Assurance

We don't just "dip and ship." Our quality protocol ensures the surface treatment enhances the part, not ruins it.

Pre-Process Check: Verification of surface roughness and dimensions.

Post-Process Verification: Using our Gear Inspection Machines and CMMs to verify that coating thickness or heat treatment distortion stays within the allowable engineering limits.

FAQ

Q: How to control strict tolerances (such as ± 0.005mm) when adding electroplating layers?

A: Unlike third-party processing plants that only 'coat the received parts', we calculate the pre plating dimensions during the CAM programming phase.
For example, if the final diameter of the shaft requires a galvanized layer thickness of 8-12 µ m, we will process the part slightly smaller (smaller in size) to reserve coating thickness. For parts with extremely high precision (such as those that require super mirror polishing), we may perform grinding or polishing after coating to achieve the final tolerance requirement of ± 0.002mm.

Q: Will heat treatment (carburizing/nitriding) deform my precision gears?

A: Heat treatment inevitably introduces some internal stresses. However, we reduce the risk of deformation through the following methods:
Choose low deformation processes for sensitive parts, such as nitriding.
After heat treatment, utilize our gear hobbing or grinding capabilities to correct any minor deformations and ensure that the gear profile meets the required AGMA/DIN quality level.

Q: How does adding surface treatment affect the lead time?

A: Since we manage the supply chain, we minimize downtime. Standard treatments like Black Oxide or Zinc Plating typically add only 2-3 days to the production schedule. Complex processes like Carburizing or Hard Chrome may require 5-7 days depending on the depth/thickness required. We will include these timelines clearly in your initial quote so you can plan your SPM machine assembly accordingly.
