Why is the load carrying capacity of heavy-duty gears so important?
In the failure analysis of some heavy-duty gears, it is found that the surface hardening or ammonia infiltration gears should not be used in high-power transmission gearboxes. This is because ammonia-permeated gears have a weak load-bearing capacity and are prone to breakage when subjected to shock loads. However, surface hardened gears are prone to spalling due to the large residual tensile stress on the subsurface, the low hardness of the core and the insufficient depth of the hardened layer. Therefore, how to choose the right gear material and heat treatment method is very important for heavy-duty gears.
How to improve the load carrying capacity of gears?
There are two main ways to increase the load carrying capacity of gears. The first is to increase the strength of the gear, thereby increasing the load-bearing capacity per unit area. The second method is to increase the center distance of the gear to reduce the load-bearing pressure per unit area. Obviously, the first method is more reasonable, but its manufacturing process is more difficult. In recent years, we have made remarkable progress in knife county, high hard tooth processing equipment and large heavy-duty gear heat treatment equipment, so that heavy-duty gears have developed from soft tooth surfaces to medium hard tooth surfaces, and finally carburizing and quenching hard tooth surface gears are widely used, which greatly improves the bearing capacity of gears.
